Mar. 04, 2013 – There were a couple fires this weekend.
Yesterday evening Hall County and Gainesville firefighters worked to battle a house fire that spread to neighboring fields and woods.
The Times reported that Hall first responded after getting a call at 5:35PM from a passer-by who reported flames and smoke at a house in the 4300 block of Spain Hill Road off Browns Bridge Road.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said a “propane tank was involved and burning.”
“The tank’s relief valve was opening and causing a bigger fire.”
Plus, he said the “fire was fed by wind, and water supply was poor causing a significantly larger and more aggressive fire.”
The fire was still under investigation yesterday late.
There was a second fire Sunday…
Gainesville firefighters battled a blaze at a 3,000-square-foot vacant commercial building in the 300 block of Downey Boulevard.
The building is across from Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s North Tower.
Officials said, No one was injured, but the building has been gutted.
Officials are trying the determine the cause of the fire and estimated cost of damage.
