Feb. 8, 2013 – Yesterday we reported that a man was found dead under a vacant mobile home in the Batesville community Wednesday afternoon, now that man has been identified.
Habersham officials said it is: Michael Anthony Hunnicutt, 43, of Toccoa.
Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell said a body was found at a vacant residence on Georgia Highway 356 yestday.
He said the landowner’s grandson found the body after he noticed a piece of the underpinning on the trailer was sticking out and went to check.
Officials said it appeared the victim had been there for a couple of days.
The sheriff does expect foul play.
Hunnicutt had been shot twice in the head, Terrell said, adding investigators don’t believe it was a stranger-to-stranger crime.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 754-6666, ext. 0 and ask to speak to an investigator regarding the Hunnicutt case.
