Five Injured in Dawsonville Highway Crash

 

DAWSONVILLE — A two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 53 near the Dawson-Forsyth County line injured five people yesterday, including three children. One of the children is believed to be in critical condition.

According to the accident report, 62-year-old Fredina Elrod of Gainesville was headed west on Hwy. 53 when she crossed the centerline in her KIA Forte and struck a pickup truck driven by 48-year-old Eugene Hintz of Cumming at 6:45 a.m.

Elrod was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where her condition is not known at this time. Three passengers in her car, ages 2, 4 and 6, were taken to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.

Hintz was taken by private vehicle to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where his condition is unknown.

Elrod has been charged with failure to maintain lane and a child restraint violation.
