We’ve all heard about at least one car accident over this past holiday’s busy weekend, but now the Department of Public Safety has released the official numbers of the 102 hour holiday travel period.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Gordy Wright reported 19 fatal crashes and 622 traffic crashes that resulted in 263 injuries.
Authorities say alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in four of the 11 traffic deaths investigated.
In the North Georgia Area there were five fatal crashes.
Two of the five appear to be alcohol related.
