GAINESVILLE — Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield has proposed a 100 percent virtual school option for students in grades six through 12.
Spanish One and Health are already available on-line, but if Schofield’s proposal is approved by the Board of Education, students may never have to set foot inside a classroom after the 5th grade.
Schofield made the proposal at Monday’s Board of Education meeting. “Moving to this virtual choice, I think, is the next logical step,” Schofield said.
“We can sit on the sidelines and watch it happen and whine about it, or we can get in on the front end of it and create something better than anybody else can do.”
Schofield expects to make a concrete proposal to the board before the end of the year.
Classes would be offered to Hall County students at no charge and could eventually be available to out-of-county students, but would require tuition.
