Jun. 14, 2013 – There is some good news out there too, yesterday a horse was rescued in Dawson County by Emergency Services after falling into a sinkhole.
Dawson County Emergency Services responded to a call for a high-risk horse rescue near the 1300-block of Hugh Stowers Road.
Officials say witnesses had attempted to assist the horse out of the sinkhole, but hod no luck getting him out.
Authorities reached the animal at about 9:30 and the fire personnel swiftly prepared a make-shift sling and maneuvered the horse out of the depression with the help of a tractor.
The horse was unharmed, but a veterinarian was called to ensure its welfare.
Officials say the horse was also provided oxygen and was cooled during the rescue to protect it from the warm weather during the incident.
