CLARKESVILLE – A 28 year-old Lavonia man has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of child cruelty after he allegedly shot an Alto man last week.

Clinton Jester turned himself in to Lavonia Police over the weekend. Authorities say Jester and an unidentified woman were dropping two children off at a home on Georgian Terrace off Mud Creek Road near Alto when he and Jared Carter were involved in an altercation.

Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell said, “The driver gets out and shoots Carter in the leg with a .45-caliber handgun. Carter was shot once. It looked like it entered the left thigh, exited and entered the right thigh.”

The victim was the only person injured.
