Oct. 17, 2013 – A man pulled a handgun on a deputy yesterday in South Hall.
24 year old Skyler Dustin Summerour is now in custody after he surrendered.
According to sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Chad Mann, Summerour pulled a handgun on a deputy attempting to speak with him after he evaded a traffic stop.
Mann said the deputy had signaled for Summerour to pull over on Ga. 53 to no avail.
Lt. Stephen Wilbanks said He pulled up to his home on Windfield Road and went inside with the deputy right behind him and Summerour’s mother let the deputy inside.
Wilbanks said the man acted totally oblivious to the deputy, as though the deputy wasn’t even there.
He eventually did confront the deputy, though, and it was physically.
Lt. Wilbanks said that during the course of that struggle Summerour produced a handgun.
The deputy was able to disengage and get out of the room and immediately called for backup and established a perimeter.
Inside the house were the suspect’s fiance and a 5-year-old child, which prompted heightened caution from the sheriff’s office.
Wilbanks said they approached it as they would a hostage situation.
In the end, no one was injured when Summerour surrendered around 4:20 PM
