Jan. 31, 2013 – There may be a new shopping center coming to Gainesville.
A 245,000-square-foot shopping center is proposed for a 25 acre spot just off Ga. 53/Dawsonville Highway.
According to the Gainesville Times, America’s Home Place, which has spearheaded development occurring around Beechwood Drive, is seeking to clear the way for the project through a rezoning application that first goes before the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board on Feb. 12.
The shopping center, also featuring several outparcels, would be built across from three restaurants that have sprung up over the past couple of years — Olive Garden, Cheddar’s Casual Cafe and Buffalo Wild Wings.
A public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12 and should begin at 5 p.m.
The meeting will be taking place in the Gainesville Justice Center on Queen City Parkway.
The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board can only recommend approval or denial of the rezoning request.
The final decision would be left up to Gainesville City Council, which is set to consider the matter at its March 5 meeting.
