Jan. 23, 2013 – The Georgia Department of Transportation announces routine maintenance activities planned for this week in Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Hall Counties.
According to GDOT, most activities will only require shoulder or median lane closures.
GDOT said, this is a tentative schedule; if emergency response is needed at a crash scene or if emergency repairs are necessary this schedule will change.
WHEN: Crews will work Tuesday, January 22 through Friday, January 25. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits.
WHAT and WHERE:
Dawson – mowing on SR 53
Forsyth – patching damaged asphalt on SR 20 from milepost 5 to 7.5, this work will require a single lane closure and a flagman or pilot vehicle directing traffic through the work zone
Hall – cleaning and repairing the ditches along SR 52 and SR 323, mowing on SR 52 and vegetation management on SR 11, 211 and 284
Motorists should reduce their speed in these and all work zones.
Picking up the tons of trash that litter Georgia’s highways costs the Department of Transportation more than $11 million every year. Those funds – your tax dollars – could be put to much better use if motorists and their passengers would be more thoughtful and considerate.
