Jun. 21, 2013 – A man was taken to the hospital for evaluation after a tree limb fell on him in his front yard in Gillsville on Wednesday.
This would have never happened to the man, but he was pushing his niece of of harm’s way.
According to the Times, Dwight Dupree, of Rolling Ridge Drive, often sat under that tree for its ample shade.
Donta Ware, Dupree’s nephew told the times that one of the trees limbs struck his uncle in the back after he pushed his niece from the falling tree after they heard a loud cracking sound.
Dupree’s niece is 6 or 7.
Every day they sit out under the tree and try to enjoy the shade, and according to Ware, he knew the tree was rotten and would one day fall.
He feels like his uncle saved the little girl’s life.
Dupree suffered a gash on the small of his back and the tree also managed to knock down a power line.
