DAHLONEGA — Retired U.S. Army Col. Jack Peevy, a Vietnam veteran and former commander of Airborne Infantry, Special Forces and Army Intelligence units, has donated $2.1 million to his alma mater, North Georgia College and State University.
Peevey, who was severly wounded in Vietnam, said, “You don’t realize how unique and significant the university is until years after you’ve left it.”
The first $100,000 of Peevy’s gift, helped to set up the Colonel Jack Peevy Military Scholarship.
Vice President for Advancement Andy Leavitt said, “This donation will be targeted to providing program support and scholarships for the Corps of Cadets,” Leavitt said.
