Aug. 21, 2013 – Yesterday Two Gainesville Police officers and an Oakwood woman were injured after the woman eluded a traffic stop and hit the officers with her car.
Her injuries occurred when the officers fired shots at her.
Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said that officers were attempted to stop a white passenger car at Bowman Drive and Skelton Road at about 4:30 a.m.
GBI Sherry Lang said that at the time, they were trying to pull her over because her headlights weren’t on, and then she attempted to elude.
Lang identified the woman as 42 year old Tracey Marie Dean
Holbrook said Dean struck the officers and two police cars before fleeing after the shots were fired.
Police searched the area and the woman was found about two hours later less than a mile from the site of the traffic stop after a resident noticed a suspicious car that matched the description of what police were looking for.
Holbrook said, Dean was in the car with serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The names of the officers involved have not been released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is investigating.
