DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia has released its 2013-2014 versions of the school’s men’s and women’s basketball schedules with the first home basketball game set for November 15 when women’s head coach Buffie Burson’s women’s team hosts Northwood University in Memorial Hall.
The women’s team will officially kick off the season on November 11 with a non-conference road trip to Brevard College.
Nighthawk fans will be able to get a taste of the upcoming basketball season on November 6 when the women’s team plays host to NCAA Division III Piedmont College in an exhibition affair. Both teams will also travel down to the UNG-Gainesville campus on Tuesday, October 29 for an informal exhibition scrimmage in front of the students on that campus.
The men’s team will start the season by taking part in the Conference Carolinas/Peach Belt Challenge on November 8-9 and will again represent the league two weeks later at the Peach Belt/Gulf South Challenge at Young Harris.
In addition to the Peach Belt Conference ledger where both teams will play 19 conference games, the schedules include three non-conference home games. Coach Chris Faulkner’s team will have a single non-conference home game on November 27 against Limestone College while the UNG women’s team will also host Lee University on December 7 to round out both teams’ non-conference home ledger.
Additionally, the women’s team will host the North Georgia Nighthawk Invitational on November 22-23 with games against North Greenville University and Shorter University in a classic format.
Both team’s kick off the Peach Belt schedule on December 14 when UNG plays host to Armstrong Atlantic State University in a doubleheader format.
The regular season concludes with another game in Memorial Hall when Georgia Southwestern State University travels to Dahlonega to wrap up the PBC slate.
The 2014 Peach Belt Conference tournament will be hosted by Columbus State on March 6-9 in CSU’s Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center.
The North Georgia women’s team is coming off a 14-15 mark last season that was highlighted by a run to the Peach Belt Conference Championship game. The Nighthawk men registered a 16-12 overall record in 2012-13.
All UNG home basketball games will be broadcast over the UNG Sports Network as part of the Nighthawk Vision package where live statistics, a live video stream and interactive in-game graphics are accessible in one viewing location.
