Mar. 17, 2013 – North Georgia Men and Women Claim 9-0 Wins Over Lees McRae

SALISBURY, N.C. – The University of North Georgia men’s and women’s tennis teams each stepped out of their Peach Belt Conference schedule Sunday with a dual match against Lees McRae College in Salisbury, N.C., a neutral location for both schools. The 30th-ranked Saint men earned a 9-0 victory over the Bobcats with the women earning a similar 9-0 victory.

For the North Georgia men (5-6, 1-6 PBC), Felipe Friedrich and No. 1 doubles partner Matheus Guida continued to dominate with an 8-1 victory while Giovani Santos and Sam Gantt combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Ernesto Farinas and Mario Mesquita also won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

The Saint men then swept the singles matches with everyone winning in straight sets.

The Saint women (3-9, 1-7 PBC) were led by Natalia Escobar and Mathilda Baartvedt winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while Cameron Williams and Adalyn Hazelman won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. No. 3 doubles was not contested.

Like the men, the women won their five singles matches all in straight sets en route to the 9-0 win.

Both North Georgia squads will remain on the road with three more non-conference matches. The Saints will first travel to Belmont, N.C. where they will face Belmont Abbey College on Monday, Mar. 18 at 3:00 p.m.
