Oct. 17, 2013 – A heavily armed Gainesville man was arrested Tuesday morning during a security check of the Hall County Courthouse parking garage.
54 year old Scott Edward Hake has been charged with loitering and prowling, reckless conduct and possession of a weapon in an unauthorized location, according to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Further investigation resulted in an additional charge of terroristic threats, stemming from a domestic incident that occurred earlier in the day at another location.
During the security check at the courthouse, just after 3 AM, a sheriff’s deputy saw a pickup truck occupied by a man on the top deck of the parking garage.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy noticed two shotguns and ammunition in the front seat.
During a pat-down of the suspect, the deputy found a loaded .32-caliber handgun in the man’s waistband.
The release went on to say that after further investigation they found a note inside (Hake’s) shirt that indicated the possibility of suicidal tendencies.
Deputies arrested Hake without incident and booked him into the Hall County Jail.
The sheriff’s Office said The investigation has not produced any indication that Hake had plans to initiate a violent act at the Hall County Courthouse, but the sheriff’s office is still investigating the case.
