GAINESVILLE – The intersection of Jesse Jewell Parkway and Limestone Parkway in Gainesville is expected to become a hub of activity in hte next year and a half.
There was talk at Tuesday’s City Council meeting that a new 55-acre commercial development anchored by a 120,000 square foot Kroger store start moving dirt next year.
Gainesville Community Development Director Rusty Ligon said, “There will be additional stores coming later and also there are outparcels across Jesse Jewell Parkway, likely for restaurants.”
According to Ligon, Kroger has set an unofficial opening date for February 1st of 2014. After a public hearing on May 8, Gainesville City Council is expected to consider an annexation request for the site in June.
“They plan to break ground in September of this year and deliver a site to Kroger in February of 2013,” Ligon said.
