Jun. 18, 2013 – The 41-year-old man accused of shooting another man at Tadmore Park on Sunday has now officially been with murder.
Saul Mendez Castillo has now been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Silverio Acosta of Gainesville.
Hall County Sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said Both Castillo and Acosta were spectators at an adult-league soccer game when the confrontation occurred and the investigation has revealed that the two men apparently were acquainted with each other from previous years in El Salvador.
Wilbanks said deputies made it to Tadmore Park a little after 4 PM to investigate a reported shooting and when they arrived, they found Acosta, who had been shot multiple times and was dead at the scene.
He said Castillo had been detained by Hall County Marshals, who were working as security guards at the game.
In addition to murder charges, Castillo has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and has been placed under an immigration hold, since he is suspected of being in the country illegally.
No one else was injured as a result of the incident.
