Dec. 11, 2012 – A large plot of land in South Hall was blessed Sunday by area clergy and dignitaries, including Governor Nathan Deal.
The 119 acre plot will become the home of a 100 bed hospital in the spring of 2015.
The one-hour ceremony featured music, speakers and a responsive blessing.
Mary Lynn Coyle, the health system’s board chairwoman said, “Today’s ceremony wasn’t a traditional groundbreaking, like you might attend when a new manufacturing plant opens, because we saw a blessing as more fitting for a hospital, considering the work involves saving lives and making deep, emotional, personal connections.”
Deal said he believes that “one of the major ingredients in the quality of life is the availability of quality health care.”
He said, “It will indeed enhance the quality of life in Northeast Georgia.”
Deal also announced that the health system is seeking gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design health care certification for the hospital.
